In the past week, I've observed two Spiders close or on the water. On an abandoned golf course, I watched a Spider on the surface of a pond. Much like some Water Insects tread the surface of the water, the small Spider was doing the same - both using the Water Tension to stay above water. The Spider may have been hunting the Water Bugs, as they are much smaller than the Spider was.
On another occasion, I was sitting at the large Frog pond I frequent. I didn't see any Frogs jump into the water, as the temperature outside here is getting colder and colder. However, on the edge of the pond and over the water, a Small Spider, no larger than 2 drops of water (if that), was building a web over the edge of the water. The Spider was building the web at the edge, again over the water, as it had attached to a single blade of grass-like plant that was sticking up out of the water about 10 inches into the water.
